Post Pals

Give time at your hen party to write post to seriously ill children and put a smile on their face.

About

Post Pals is a small charity run solely by volunteers who are dedicated to making seriously ill children and their siblings smile by the sending of cards, letters, little gifts, support and friendship.

Why make cards for Post Pals?

Hands-on craft activities are a really lovely thing to do at a hen party for a few hours - especially if you can all sit down with a cup of tea and cake at the same time. So if your hens enjoy getting creative, you could put a smile on the face of a poorly child as a result by making cards!

You can send post from anywhere in the world, no matter how old or young you are. You don’t need to register, just go to ‘Find Pals’ on their website, read through the current children’s pages and pick a child. Pop it in the post to the address on the child’s page and know that you have made a child smile!

How does it work?

The concept is simple… they feature children on the website with a forwarding address, their interests and stories, and invite members of the public from around the world to log on and send cheerful post. It really is as simple as that!

How to support Post Pals

  • We think it’s nice to tell everyone in advance that you’re planning this activity - then your hens have time to think of their design and do some research. But, you could make it a surprise activity too.

  • Organise the craft items for everyone to use in advance of the hen party (and don’t forget stamps for the post!) - we’ve added some suggestions to our activity page. You could also encourage people to bring items they’d like to use.

  • Find Your Pal on the Post Pals website - we suggest each person choosing a different pal to make a card for. You could ask everyone to choose in advance or arrange a selection to be chosen from on the day.

  • Get creative! On the day of your hen party, do your gorgeous crafting activity together to make your cards for your Post Pals! Send happy, positive messages instead of ‘get well soon’. Tell your pal a bit about yourself.

  • Send your post! The address for each Pal is listed in their profile on the Post Pals website.

Please read more about how to send post and the guide to writing post on the Post Pals website.
