Bloody Good Period

About

Bloody Good Period provides menstrual products to asylum seekers, refugees, and those who cannot afford them. They have worked with over 100 partner organisations across England and Wales to distribute products to those who need them. Bloody Good Period also provides menstrual and reproductive education sessions to those less likely to access them, all while campaigning for menstrual equity.

Why collect for Bloody Good Period?

Your hen party can make a huge difference to the lives of people living in period poverty in the UK. Menstrual products are essential – and, unlike toilet paper, are not free in public areas (or in GP clinics, like condoms).

Asylum seekers in the UK are given just £40.85 per week to live on – a heavy period can cost nearly a quarter of this. This means that many people are forced to manage their periods with rags, toilet paper, or nothing at all. People who menstruate also suffer from a culture of shame and embarrassment. Bloody Good Period’s work tackles period poverty and menstrual equity, fighting for all who bleed.

How does it work?

Bloody Good Period works with partner organisations across England and Wales, such as foodbanks, drop-in centres, and community centres. These partner organisations place orders with BGP, who fulfil these orders through wholesale suppliers. In this way, the people who need period products are able to receive the products they want and that work best for them, empowering them through choice to manage their periods as comfortably as possible.

For example, you could host a boozy brunch where everyone pays a small donation.
